Clara Castelar Orteu

English philologist and specialized audiovisual translator.

Born and raised in a bilingual family in Spain, I have always had a natural curiosity for languages, especially those of romantic origin. Fluent in English, Catalan and Spanish from a very young age, it was clear to me that my career path would take me down the field of Philology.

With a degree in English Philology from the University of the Balearic Islands (2019), my passion for languages continued to flourish, driving me to learn more languages such as Italian and Latin.

Certified audiovisual translator by the Universidad Complutense de Madrid. My Master’s Degree Final Project was an analysis of the TV series Pep‘s subtitles for the deaf and hearing-impaired in Catalan.
